Home Security and Automation

We live in a high tech world and even though many of the technologies are not available to the masses due to financial reasons, those who can afford them can definitely make their houses more secure and automated than Fort Knox. Keeping in mind that today most people live much better than the aristocracy from 200 years ago, it’s safe to say that those achievements of human ingenuity will unquestionably get within everyone’s reach in time. There is no doubt in my mind that the beginning of the process will happen in our life and I just want you to be prepared for one heck of a ride. Trust me, an automated house will change your life forever.

Full remote control of your home

How many times have you wondered if you’ve left any appliances running before you headed out? It’s an unpleasant thought that can completely ruin your evening and while in most cases it’s just a product of your paranoia, it can cause real problems when you’ve really forgotten to switch the stove off (for example). With an automated house, that would literally be a thing of the past. This is just one small illustration of the benefits. Everything in your house is interconnected and you can access it remotely. You can check if there are any appliances running from the restaurant you’re having dinner at. You can also control everything else in the house remotely.

Centralized Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

This is where you truly hit the jackpot. With a centralized system you can have the perfect temperature and humidity level in your home at any give time. It won’t be dependent on the season or any atmospheric conditions whatsoever and will be the same in every room. You will probably also have floor heating and the air will be constantly filtered because, well, because you can afford it. You will be able to smoke your fancy cigars in your living room and your guests arriving in half an hour won’t be able to catch the scent because the air filtration system is that amazing.

Since you have a smart house you can access remotely (you will probably be able to flush your toilet from the other end of the world), you will probably also have pricey electrical appliances, expensive pieces of art and even though it would be hard for someone to steal 70” video wall and the surround system embedded in your walls (because everything can be embedded in your walls), it would still be a good idea to have a bit of a more advanced security system than your average suburb household. Worry not – there is plenty you can do in order to make sure that nobody can enter your home. From bulletproof windows to complex digital security locks with intricate encryptions, you can have it all. You can also have cameras everywhere with direct feed to your phone and motion sensors to alert you when someone (or something) has somehow managed to pull a miracle and has entered the premises. If you’re not a fan of Big Brother, you can skip the camera part, but you should definitely use the motion sensors.

As you can see, having a fully automated house has lots of perks and the security can be tighter than what some banks use. All of this is you can get even today (if you can afford it) and it’s not really that expensive (meaning you don’t have to be a billionaire in order to afford it – a millionaire should suffice). Of course, if you’re a tech geek, you can probably pull some of these using the parts of your old washing machine and couple of wires but that’s a whole different story.
