Verizon Fios Login Not Working: Reasons & 10 Best Solutions

On this website, I quite frequently write about different devices not working, and that’s fair enough. A lot of things can go wrong with such complicated devices, such as TV.

But how about when you are only trying to log into your Verizon account, yet you can’t for some reason? Today, I will investigate this bizarre issue, and tell you a few tricks on how you can log into your own account.

Why Is Your Verizon Fios Login Not Working?

The most common issue that causes you to be locked out of your Verizon account is the technical difficulties on the Verizon’s end, provided you entered the correct login credentials.

Another reason can be a malfunctioning Verizon app that needs to be either updated or reinstalled.

Thirdly, the device you are trying to log in on may need to be restarted or updated as well.

Last, but not least, you should always have a steady Wi-Fi connection for any app to work normally.

It could also be an incorrect Verizon account password/username, issues with your subscription, Verizon server problems.

As you can see, there isn’t much that can go wrong here, so I’ll do my best to help you restore your Verizon account access.

How To Fix This Issue?

Now let’s get to the best part of the article – the troubleshooting steps.

1. Check Your Login Credentials

I know, you probably already did that, so I won’t bore you too much with this obvious step, but I can’t help but mention it here in case somebody forgets.

One more thing you can do is to request a new password to be sent to your email. This simple step can solve the conundrum and help you finally log in.

2. Verizon Server Problems

Server outages and other related problems can hinder you from logging in on your TV or other devices from time to time.

The simplest solution is to check your account’s status on the Account Page or use a website like Down Detector.

If you confirm that server issues are causing the trouble, the thing you can do here is either just wait for Verizon to sort it out, or give them a call and ask for more clarification.

3. Restart the Verizon App

The best way to do it is to perform a power cycle: Turn off your device, wait for a few minutes, then power it back up. You can apply the same steps to your modem or router if you suspect any connectivity issues.

Simply unplug them from the power source, wait for 1 minute, then plug them back in.

You can also perform a so-called soft reset of your streaming device, it is highly effective in many ways:

  1. Unplug your streaming device from the power source.
  2. Wait for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Plug your device back in.

After that, try logging into your Verizon app, hopefully this will work. If not, please, keep reading.

4. Update the Verizon App

The process differs depending on what TV or streaming device you are using Verizon on, but the steps are pretty much the same for all of them. Here are some general guidelines, we will use Samsung TV as an example:

Press the Menu button on your remote and go to Support>Software Update>Select Update Now.

If it is your smartphone, visit the Play Store on Android and the Apple App Store on iOS to ensure your app is up-to-date. If it isn’t, try updating it and see if you can log in now.

5. Reinstall The App

If the problem still persists while you’re using the latest version, try uninstalling the app and installing it again.

If the app is corrupt, this should solve the problem.

In case it is your smartphone or a tablet, go to your App Store and uninstall it from there.

For your TV, go to Settings>find Apps>Verizon>Click Uninstall. After you have uninstalled the app, power cycle your TV as described above, and then reinstall the app.

6. Clear the App’s/Browser’s Cache

Once again, the process will differ depending on your device type, we will once again provide the general guidelines here.

For smart TV:

  1. Tap the Home button on your remote control.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Apps.
  4. Go to the System apps.
  5. Find and select Verizon.
  6. Tap on “Clear cache”.
  7. Tap OK to confirm.

For Android:

  1. Open the Settings app and select Apps and Notifications.
  2. Find and select Verizon from the list of apps.
  3. Tap on  Storage & Cache, and select Clear Cache and then Clear Storage.

For iPhone:

To check how much storage the Verizon app is using on your phone, go to Settings>General> iPhone Storage>select Verizon. To clear up cache, delete and reinstall the app.

For Web Browser:

In order to clear the cache and cookies on your browser, go to Settings, Security, and click “Clear cache and cookies.”

You can also clear the cache for a particular page, in our case, the Verizon one, by clicking on the padlock sign next to the website’s URL in the upper left corner of the screen.

7. Check your Internet Connection

If you are using your cellular data, try switching to Wi-Fi and see if it makes any difference. If you were originally connected to Wi-Fi, you can restart your router and your phone.

To get a better internet connection, it is always a good idea to reset your router:

  1. Unplug your router from the power source.
  2. Wait for a few minutes.
  3. Plug it back in.
  4. Allow it some time to establish the connection before attempting to log into Verizon.

8. Disable Your VPN

VPNs might be causing interference and stopping you from being able to log into Verizon on your device.  Try turning your VPN off and see if it makes any difference.

9. Log In On A Different Device

If you were originally trying to log into your account from your laptop, try using a different device, your phone, or another laptop for example.

This might solve the issue, and you will be able to log in on your original device as well.

Tip: You can also try using a different browser as well as Incognito mode to log into your Verizon account. Alternatively, log in through the browser and not the app.

10. Contact Verizon

If you’ve tried all the steps mentioned above, the only thing that is left is to contact Verizon directly. You can call 1-800-VERIZON to get in touch with them.

Their customer support will have to reset your account credentials manually, so you can get access to your account.

Conclusion

To sum up, here are all the steps I recommend taking in order to be able to log into your Verizon account.

On your TV: Restart the Hulu App and the streaming device, power cycle your TV, update the app, reinstall the app, clear the app’s cache.

On your phone: Check for app updates, uninstall and reinstall the app. Restart your phone and check for updates as well. Clear the app’s cache and check your Internet connection.

On PC/laptop: Fully close the browser you’re using, restart your computer, and try again. Try using a different browser, incognito mode, log in through the browser and not the app, clear the browser’s cache, reset your router.

If the steps above didn’t work, don’t worry, it’s not you, it is the Verizon’s issue. Call their customer support, they will be more than happy to assist you.
