Make sure your TV and your source device are on the same Wi-Fi network.

This will almost certainly fix the issue.

Why Is Screen Mirroring Not Working On Your TCL TV?

Here are some of the most common reasons for this issue to occur:

  • There’s an issue with either your TV or the source device.
  • You are having a patchy Wi-Fi connection.
  • Your TV and your source device are using different internet networks.
  • Your firewall is blocking the connection.
  • Your TV is in standby mode.
  • There are some pending software updates.

There can be other reasons why your screen mirroring fails to work, buy in my experience, the things mentioned above are the most common ones.

How To Fix The Problem

Now that we’ve identified numerous problems behind why your TCL Smart TV’s screen mirroring function is not working, we will discuss what you can do to help get it working again. A list of the following fixes will follow below:

1. Check Your Internet Stability

If you want the functions of your TCL Smart TV to run smoothly, you’ll need to ensure that you have a stable internet connection.

Various functions, such as the screen mirroring, will not work efficiently if your Wi-Fi has a poor signal or slow connection.

Ensure to check the speed of your Wi-Fi if you are having serious problems with your screen mirroring function, and if your Wi-Fi has a poor connection, you could try connecting your Smart TV to your mobile hotspot.

I also recommend resetting your router, even if your Wi-Fi signal seems fine:

  1. Turn your router off.
  2. Wait for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Turn your router back on.
  4. Wait for it to establish the internet connection.

Now try using the screen mirroring option and see if the reset has worked.

Tip: Please, make sure your TV and your source device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Reset Your TCL Smart TV

The following fix is one of the most common ideas; however, from time to time, people forget this step.

You can simply restart your TCL Smart TV if you’re having a problem with the screen mirroring function, as this will give your TV a fresh start.

  1. Turn your TV off.
  2. Unplug it from the power source.
  3. Wait for 1 minute.
  4. Plug the TV back in and turn it on.

Once the Smart TV has turned on, it may solve the error thanks to a reboot.

Typically, this can solve a handful of problems surrounding your TV, and it’s worth a try when trying to correct a screen mirroring problem.

3. Reset Your Source Device

It always takes 2 to tango when it comes to screen mirroring, so it makes sense to reset your source device next.

This step depends on what kind of device you are using, but chances are, it will be either your smartphone or your laptop.

With your smartphone, simply power it off, then turn it back on after a minute or so.

With your laptop, press the restart button and wait for it to do its thing.

Tip: While you are at it, please, make sure your source device’s software is up-to-date and doesn’t require any updates. It’s always a good idea to clear the cache and cookies and get rid of any unused files.

4. Forget the Network

If you’ve tried the 3 steps we talked about before, here is one more thing I suggest you try.

Go to your TV’s settings and disconnect it from the internet altogether.

You can combine it with power cycling, as described is step 2.

Do exactly the same steps for your smartphone/laptop.

Disconnect them from the internet, turn them off, then back on.

Now establish a fresh connection between your TV and your source device.

I am sure that should help get rid of any software issues and finally get the screen mirroring to work.

5. Factory Reset Your TV

Here we are at the final step of our article.

If nothing so far has worked, you can take a more drastic measure and factory reset your TV through the TV’s settings menu.

This will delete all the information from the TV, so make sure to back up the things you don’t want to lose.

After you do the factory reset, make sure to check that the screen mirroring option is enabled, you are connected to the proper Wi-Fi network, and that your source device is rebooted and ready to cast.
